Derek led the Eagles in scoring and rushing yards.  This speedster is one big reason the Eagles won the Mid State League Title outright, the first in 36 years.  The Eagles have only lost one regular season game by 2 points, and played to the Elite 8 in the 2004 Regional Finals in the Football Rich State of Ohio.  

Due strictly to the fact Derek exceeded his athletic eligibility at New Albany H.S. per the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) and that Derek fell short of the Academic criteria needed to enter college, Derek continues as a student at New Albany High School while he plays for the independent football team known as the Columbus Crusaders.  The Crusaders are very competitive and play against all OHSAA sanctioned teams.  The Crusaders continue to win many games and the program draws outstanding student athletes such as Derek. Derek continues to weight train, condition and prepare for College.  Derek plans to enroll in a professional cross training program during the off season to maximize his skills while working hard in class.  Derek volunteers in various community outreach programs involving the under privileged and youth sports programs, holds a part time job during the off season and works hard in the classroom.  Please continue to watch this young man while he prepares for college.
